Wardah Nayab – Unit 217 – Owner/occupant since 2019

Wardah is a passionate educator and program director for early childhood education. She is an experienced office manager and administrator.

She wants to join the PCC 7 board to volunteer her skills and to help guide the future of our complex. She advocates for more transparency in decision making when it comes to repairs and updates to our community. She previously supported Brad Barnard because he committed to volunteering his skills to PCC7 but has been disillusioned because he has given himself a paid position, contrary to the rules set by the Condominium Authority of Ontario.

Dacia Bonnick – Unit 214 – Owner/occupant since 2022

I see the potential for this community to be a safe, beautiful and stress-free community in which to live and raise kids. Currently, there are a lot of questionable occurrences that are of grave concern to a lot of residents of the community. As a result, I have decided to put myself forward as a candidate for the board of directors to ensure that our monthly maintenance fees are efficiently used, proper and timely maintenance are done to our properties to protect our property values, and open, respectful and transparent communication exist between residents and the board.

My qualifications and experiences:

  • My role as a law clerk will prove vital in understanding legal matters and providing valued recommendations accordingly.
  • I previously worked as a Community Action Officer, where I lobbied government agencies and private entities on behalf of the communities in which I worked.
  • I have formal training in social work, which helps me to understand how detrimental a negative environment can be to the wellbeing of residents.
  • I am also a member of the planning committee at my church, which helps me to understand timeline and budgeting.
  • I understand how healthy and fulfilling it can be to live in a community where every resident matters and every voice is heard.
  • Some of my goals for the community are as follows:
    • to work to keep our reserve funds healthy, scrutinize vendor contracts to prevent unnecessary fee increases, and keep individuals from benefiting unfairly and questionably from our finances;
    • to advocate for proactive upkeep of our common elements and timely repair to our homes to protect and increase our property values;
    • to lobby for better usage of our common spaces, for example Unit 218 – encourage a homework program in the main area, instead of it being used as a personal storage for a particular individual;
    • to encourage and foster open communication – introduce avenues, such as a community board, surveys, etc. for residents to provide regular feedback and make valuable suggestions

I would be honored to earn your vote at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Please feel free to reach out to me at jovial_ava@yahoo.com or 905-781-5259 if you would like to discuss any questions or ideas you have for our community.

Elwira (Elvira) Gomulka – Unit 126 – Owner/occupant since 2001

My name is Elwira Gomulka. I am a public relations professional and have recently retired. I now have the time to offer to my community. During my 25+ years living in the Gates of Bramalea, I have experienced many boards of directors that have ruled against the homeowners’ best interests. It is time to make a change!

The homeowners should be heard and have a right to advocate and to express themselves, especially with decisions about upcoming projects in our neighbourhood. While we know that the Board has authority, it is imperative that the suggestions and feedback of the hardworking homeowners are considered before any action is taken. We pay management fees and yet our voices are not taken into account when it matters.

I will work hard to improve our community.

Flordelisa Calma – Unit 215 – Owner/occupant since 2013

I have been a resident of PCC 7 for over 13 years and am actively involved in my church and community through various volunteer and community-based activities. These experiences have given me a strong appreciation for the importance of bringing people together, supporting one another, and creating a sense of belonging within a community.

I am interested in joining the Board to become more involved in our condominium community and help strengthen the connection between residents and the Board. Having lived here for many years, I understand the importance of having residents feel heard, informed, and included in decisions that affect their home and community. I would like to encourage greater resident engagement, open communication, and opportunities for neighbours to connect with one another.

In my work as a Replenisher/Purchaser in a home improvement retail environment, I forecast stock for our 35 stores in Ontario. This requires watching trends, patterns and being able to forecast the needs of our stores and customers to ensure that product is available. My work skills will help me to find the patterns and needs of our homeowners in our complex.

My goal would be to help foster a more welcoming, connected, and collaborative community at PCC 7. I hope to bring my experience working with people through my church and community involvement, along with a willingness to listen, communicate, and work constructively with both residents and fellow Board members. Ultimately, I would like to help create a community where residents feel that their concerns are heard and where there is a stronger sense of togetherness.

Michelle Frizza – Unit 8 – Owner/occupant since 2010

I have lived proudly at the Gates of Bramalea for 16 years. We are a unique community. I have been on the Board (in 2012 & 2021) to volunteer my time and energy to keep our community thriving. Unfortunately, politics reared its ugly head and some underhanded behaviour changed things.

It is time to bring inclusivity and openness to our new Board of Directors. My goal is to maintain that:

  • All Board members are volunteers and
  • A professional Property Manager is engaged whose role is to guide the Board in best practices, assist with assessing work/repairs needed and finding vendors and keeping the balance between homeowners and the Board
  • One Board member should never hold all the power
  • Homeowners should be able to see the minutes of Board meetings (as long as no personal details of other homeowners are exposed)
  • Homeowners should have an opportunity to provide an opinion on big changes to any structure in our community
  • Homeowners should have an opportunity to provide an opinion on any enforcement of by-laws written in 1970, when the world was a different place

I am a freelance musician and run my business successfully. Time-management is the key. I volunteer at my church and once committed, I take my role(s) seriously. As a Board member of PCC 7 I will do the same – manage my time to ensure that I can commit to our community to bring about harmony.
